Detective Rio was enjoying a quiet afternoon in his office when a sudden phone call shattered the calm. On the other end of the line was a deep male voice introducing himself as Makmum bin Idris, a well-known spiritual practitioner in the region. Makmum pleaded for Rio’s help in investigating an ancient artifact he had recently discovered—a strange urn covered with indecipherable symbols.
Intrigued by anything mysterious, Detective Rio immediately agreed to meet him. They arranged to meet at Makmum’s home in a remote village. When Rio arrived, he was greeted by a visibly anxious Makmum, who quickly led him into a storage room where the urn was kept.
The urn was indeed unusual. Its shape was simple, yet the carvings on its surface caught Rio’s attention immediately. There were intricate depictions resembling male genitalia and various phallic symbols etched with remarkable precision. Makmum explained that the urn had been unearthed at an archaeological site abroad and brought to Indonesia by an antique dealer who had recently died under mysterious circumstances.
Detective Rio examined the urn carefully, studying the patterns and markings. After a while, he realized that these symbols were not random—they reminded him of something he had once encountered in his research on ancient civilizations.
“Makmum, this isn’t just any artifact,” said Rio gravely. “This urn came from Pompeii.”
Makmum’s eyes widened. “Pompeii? The city buried by Mount Vesuvius?”
Rio nodded. “Yes. Pompeii was an ancient Roman city destroyed by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. What makes Pompeii remarkable is how it was preserved—its buildings, art, and artifacts frozen in time. One of its most distinctive features was its abundance of phallic symbols, which the Romans believed brought luck and fertility. This urn was likely part of a ritual or ceremony connected to those beliefs.”
Makmum listened attentively. “But how did it end up here? And what does it mean for us now?”
Rio paused before answering. “That’s what we need to find out. Artifacts like this can carry curses—or blessings—depending on who possesses them and how they’re used. We need to uncover its true origin and the identity of the person who brought it into Indonesia.”
Together, Rio and Makmum began investigating the urn’s history. They traced the antique dealer’s connections and followed leads into a shadowy network of illegal artifact trading, involving wealthy collectors and treasure hunters.
As the investigation deepened, Rio warned Makmum to be cautious.
“Objects like this attract dangerous people. Don’t let anyone know you have it—not until we understand what we’re dealing with.”
But despite their precautions, word of the urn spread. A few days later, Makmum’s house was attacked by a group attempting to steal the artifact. Rio and Makmum managed to fend them off, but they realized the danger surrounding the urn was far greater than they had imagined.
By the end of the case, Detective Rio uncovered that the urn was the key to an ancient secret tied to the hidden power of Pompeii—and that certain powerful individuals were willing to do anything to obtain it. Through his intelligence and determination, Rio exposed their plans and prevented a catastrophe that could have harmed many.
Yet the mystery of Pompeii remained sealed within the urn. Rio knew this was only the beginning of a much larger adventure. With Makmum now as his trusted ally, Detective Rio prepared himself for whatever new mysteries lay ahead.
